Man and dog headed back to the boat on the river

I miss the winter.

Great Blue Heron

A Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias) flies over Oyster Creek in St. Augustine, Florida.

Looking north from the Doug Crane Boat Ramp

I enjoy shooting pre-dawn landscapes. I know they’re cliché, but it’s hard to beat seeing the deep blue give way to faded yellow and orange in the hushed air. That’s the Mickler-O’Connell Bridge in the distance (usually just called the 312 bridge). The boater had me beat by at least an hour. He was coming [...]

Docked boats in fog #2

While I prefer the details in the last post, I still like this view at low tide. Ah, the joy of a foggy morning.

Old boat in Oyster Creek

An old discarded boats sits in Oyster Creek, just off US1 in St. Augustine. More B&W with toning.

Waterfront sunrise

Shot from the same location as yesterday’s image of the barge, this photo looks north (toward Vilano) instead of south. It was taken a few minutes later, but is darker as the pattern metering compensated for the rising sun. The colors have a little more punch than yesterday and fit the quieter mood. I wish [...]

Barge and new bridge

The new bridge is open in St. Augustine while they repair the historic Bridge of Lions (the raised drawbridge). The view is looking south toward Anastasia Island. Check the barge, it’s named Bob. Selectively applied curves and some dodging were the main processing tools.
